It’s kinda funny that I have made it 4/5′s of the way to the 100 Episode mark. I am glad that through all the ups and downs that a podcast can take, we are still spitting out great content and awesome audio. The following episode has 11 segments to it. The show has a bit of everything in it from thoughts on housing a 200 pound primate to some Apple tech and some talk about a pen that is close to spy quality. Also, odd news is great this week as well. Enjoy.

I talked about this movie at the end of Episode 80, and I am disturbed and interested all at the same time to see this. I like the vintage look to the film and the music that is in this clip. I hope that the movie delivers on the big screen.

Filmmaker Morgan Dews was very close to his grandmother Allis, but it wasn’t until after her death in 2001 that he became aware of an astounding archive she’d amassed throughout the 1960s. Filled with startlingly intimate and candid audio recordings detailing her family’s increasingly turbulent lives, the collection also contained hundreds of silent home movies, photographs and written journals. Using only these found materials, Dews has fashioned a searing family portrait that affords fly-on-the-wall access to one family’s struggles amid an America on the verge of dramatic transformation. Must Read After My Death follows Allis, her husband Charley and their four children in Hartford, Connecticut. Charley’s work takes him to Australia four months each year, so the couple purchases Dictaphone recorders as a way to stay in touch throughout Charlie’s extended absences. A modern woman at least a decade ahead of her time, Allis struggles against conformity –against the conventional roles of wife and mother. She finds the recordings cathartic and, with the family’s cooperation, incorporates them into their everyday existence. When the family turns to psychologists and psychiatrists, their strife increases and the recordings turn progressively darker — even desperate. All the while, Dews employs the family’s many home movies and the seemingly placid, typically American facade that they convey, as visual counterpoint to the raw and sobering tape recordings.

Every time I look back at where this show was and where it is going amazes me. I remember when I was using a phone to call in to Talkshoe to record this show with a rigged headset plugged into the cordless phone. The audio quality wasn’t great, but then again the first 10 or so shows weren’t great either. It is all trial and error here, but one thing that I have brought to the table if high quality audio and a product that has now hit Episode 79.

At this point in the show, I have a full studio with all the bells and whistles that produce all that you have heard over the past 30+ shows. As of this show, we changed it up and went and recorded this show in a format that was totally new. We did this podcast on a Skype conference call. You will hear that people sound great, two people can talk at once and it sounded at some points as if the guests were across the console and in the same room. It was great to see that the advances that we are taking in this show are paying off.

As I usually do, I want to thank Chaz, Eric, Brett, Patrick and Paul (who maned the chat for us during the show and listened live) for being with us for the first of many future episodes on Skype. Thank you.

This episode is some what special. We recorded over 2 hours of audio and I went through and pulled the main segments that made up the show. Their are 7 parts to the show, and as you listen…You will see that they are all made up to produce 43 minutes of great audio. Enjoy the show.

That is what we did…

We are still packing these shows with a lot of information and seeing many opinions getting bounced around. It is great to see that people are still downloading the show from Talkshoe and the RSS feed over there. For a place site that isn’t our main feed we are still getting triple digit downloads from there.

This was a show that was nothing further from running to the store, only to find out that you forgot your money and on the way home you had to take an alternate route because a tree fell across the road.
