“The Seether 8″ – Episode #114

October 23rd, 2010 by CK

Warming Up…

When I think about the cooperation between Random Access Radio (the live show) and the original podcast, I am starting to get a much clearer picture of what works. The fans of the live show are getting to know Sound Check a lot more and that is a great thing, but they still yearn for the live show on Tuesdays.

Sound Check kicks it up a bit this week with the “Seether 8” which completely rocked. I took the tracks that we have played on the live show on Tuesdays and incorporated a few others that were rockin as well and came up with what is another great short set.

music198

In this show, as I do with other shows that I have done with one artist, I like the mix of electric and acoustic.

This is the acoustic track that you will hear as part of the show.

Sound Check #113 “Rock till you drop…”

October 6th, 2010 by CK

panties-101

Now that I have your attention, I will guarantee you that Episode #113 will do the same. As part of a “2 Part Live Recording Event” on Random Access Radio, we recorded this live so that fans could get a glimpse of what to expect before it hit the home page. It was hard hitting from the start and the theme stayed consistent throughout the show. We are focusing on “short sets” here so that you can take us on the go and get a whole show in. This one should get your blood flowing and leave you coming back for another Episode soon.

Sound Check started with the vision of putting high quality podcasts together from the start of the round table shows to the music related podcasts that are the ongoing theme here. The growth of the older shows is still there, but the music has really kicked in. The one common theme in these music related shows is that people are telling others, and those new fans are subscribing to us on the ITunes feed. Take us with you, enjoy the music and if you want to request it’s easy. Sign up for the Fan Page at Facebook and post on the WALL or leave a comment here.

Want more and have Tuesday nights free from 8:30 pm to around 11:30 pm EST? Come and find us at the home page for Random Access Radio, click on the “Live Video Stream” tab and them click an icon (WMP or ITunes) to listen to the show. We offer a chat module from UStream that will let you into the studio here while the show is being produced and also give you the chance to meet some of the fans of the show. Despite the fact that this show has been a “recorded in studio” podcast, I can see many more live cuts as well. Join us for RAR (Random Access Radio and or Sound Check) on any given Tuesday for some music, chat and video!

Enjoy this one…

“RAR meets Sound Check” – Episode 112

September 1st, 2010 by CK

GirlwithHeadphones

This week Random Access Radio comes to Sound Check to give you a taste of what we are doing on the live show. Now, this is a short set and the set list usually contains around 25-35 tracks on a Tuesday night in the main show…so, this is a small portion of what you can expect.

Episode #112 is a set of some of the “best” picks from Puddle of Mudd. Check out the tracks and leave a comment.

Integration

When you have one thing that works (Sound Check) and another that is gaining traction (RAR), integration isn’t a bad consideration. My goal here is to show you a few things.

What happens on a “live” broadcast
How this turns itself into a podcast
That you can listen to the show live on Tuesday nights at 8:30 pm EST and get the RAW show.
Get involved in the “Integration” of video, chat, and the live audio stream.

High Quality

Making sure that the music is good is the easy part, broadcasting the show live and making sure the end product is of the best quality possible is the challenge. I have been fortunate that the quality of the music has been very, very good. I have always stood by the thought process that I would rather put a quality show, than a gazillion shows of low or far less than decent quality. If I want to head AM radio…I will turn on the transistor.

Where, When, and What?

  • Where? http://www.randomaccessradio.com
  • When? Tuesday nights starting at 8:30 pm EST (Check the “Calendar” tab to make sure were on the schedule!)
  • What? A high quality music stream that turns into a podcast with the ability to have video and chat available to meet new people that have the passion for music.

Here is where you can find us on the web

I hope to see you on the live show…come by and say hello in the video chat at UStream on the “Live Video Stream” tab when we are live!

Wrapping up summer…Episode 111

Long Layover

It has been a long layover (since May) that Sound Check has posted an episode, and today felt like a great day for a short set. It is a rainy day in MA, and that motivates me to be in the studio putting something together. The layover that we have had has really been because the efforts that have been flowing are on Tuesday nights into Random Access Radio. The show has taken on more personality over the past few months and the fans/friends of the show have been pushing RAR. I love that the music and the interaction is making it all happen over there.

Showing some love

As the original show that sparked all this hoopla about going live, I can’t go that long without showing some love to the Itunes subscribers and to the International visitors that I have seen stopping by the homepage and even downloading the shows. It is great to see that an effort that started 4 years ago, is still something that fans check in with. Thank you.

Short Sets

I like this format a lot when recording and I think that you will enjoy this short set. I pack it with as much as I can within an hour. So, enjoy the podcast and please leave a comment. Come by and see us on the live show (Random Access Radio) on Tuesday nights starting at 8:30 pm EST.

Rock on,

“Marble Rock…” Episode 110

May 8th, 2010 by CK

One of my favorite things when it comes to podcasting and producing these shows is that I get to see what musical taste contributors to the show have. Today, I have put together a play list for a friend of the show and someone that has supported all the “entertainment efforts” that I have been involved with from when Sound Check turned into a musical podcast. Now she has her own episode here on Sound Check with Episode 110.

Mari Adkins is from Lexington, KY and sent us a “dirty dozen” list of some of her favorite musical tracks and said, have at it…well, I did and I think it came out as entertaining as entertaining can be. She is with us most every Tuesday night for the live show (Random Access Radio) where this show actually spun off of and wishes most weeks that we would be her personal DJ. Today, she picks the tracks from her library, and I play them for you.

We would like to thank Mari for putting together a great list and being a part of the family at Sound Check with CK.

Thank you Mari.

Now, enjoy the show and leave a comment for her here at the bottom of the post.

Be well,

“With a little help from a friend…” Episode 109

February 20th, 2010 by CK

Kickin it....

So this week put a whole week into perspective here on the show and also see a more personal side from me. I am never sorry for expressing myself during any of my shows/podcasts…but sometimes things come up that are easier expressed with music. This week was no different.

In Episode 109 we see our newest Sound Check family member (MZA) kick it into gear and give us something to work with this week. I am sure that you will find Episode 109 entertaining and fun to listen to as well.

Over the past week, we have worked overtime for last Tuesday’s show featuring the debut release (which you heard here for 4 days following Tuesday night) of “Dead Bird” from our friends from Televox. We were very pleased to see so many people show up for the show and also take a listen to such a great track. If you still want to hear the track it is included in the video that was recently posted at Random Access Radio. We would like to thank the guys from Televox for having Random Access Radio and Sound Check involved in the release of their debut track.

So, we are back on track with another great episode of Sound Check with CK…

“Crazy for you…” Episode 108

January 20th, 2010 by CK

Coffee

#108…hmmm… What do you think of when you hear “108?” For me it was always the indicator that you were at the end of the radio dial. That day has come today with another episode of Sound Check w/CK. This one will get you from the first track to the last in rocking fashion, clue you in to some of the things that are going on here and also at Random Access Radio.

When these shows are done, I think…how would this be over a great cup of coffee?  This show will give that Monday morning wake up that you are looking for. I edit this show with that very thing. Coffee. It is my addiction next to my shows, and loving all the great music that is played is a very close 2nd.

In addition to this show being on Itunes (and you can subscribe to us on the right sidebar of the website) and it’s FREE!! You will soon see additional shows added from our live show at RAR.

Once again, this is the “All Request Podcast”, so check the calendar listing in the sidebar and see when you can expect the next show to be recorded. Enjoy this one, I did…and tell some friends..cause episode 107 and this one “108″ truly rocked.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Sound Check.

“With every door that closes…” Episode 107

December 30th, 2009 by CK

Winter Snow...

Every year around this time, I think of all the accomplishments that have to do with this show. In this episode you will hear about how the year went, the friendships that were made, the goal of producing, and recording a show in studio or live. It has always been about the people that enjoy  the show and how it impacts their lives.

In August of 2010, we’ll be going on anniversary #3, who would have thought that? I wouldn’t…but after a “speed racer” type of year that 2009 was, I am sure that New Years Eve will come fast approaching again. I personally thought that 09 was running on rocket fuel. Where did the time go? Just amazing.

Every week that I was producing this show with the help from the core base and new listeners from Facebook, we have seen the addition of the “live show” called Random Access Radio. We have truly come full circle this year. We were in the midst of a “round table” format that ended in March/April and a short absence from the web to come back strong with a new format here by doing music. In addition to the recorded show that is Sound Check, RAR came back alive to give the listeners even more. We have introduced a video channel, chat and the live stream of the show on Tuesday nights at 9:15 EST. All we have seen is great things and I am looking forward to a strong year for both shows.

Strength comes from the people that hold you up, similar to pillars in a building. The core group of listeners has held this show to a standard of incredible music, deep cuts, and the best production that money can’t buy. We truly are on a “low budget…”

I know that I will miss many people if I thanked everyone for a great 2009, so…If you are interested in seeing all the people that made a huge impact in the show, read some of the prior show write ups and connect with them on Twitter and Facebook.

I don’t want to single anyone out in this post because I don’t want to play favorites at all, so for those of you who are working hard to bring in new listeners, thank you…your kindness is off the chart and those efforts go hand in hand for your passion for this show. Thank you.

In Episode 107, you will hear some stuff that you wouldn’t hear even on a weekly basis on any radio, and even some tracks that you may have forgotten.

Please comment on the show in the comments, and I look forward to another bang up year here on Sound Check with CK.

Be well,

CK

“Pelvic Distortion” – Episode 106

December 2nd, 2009 by CK

Don't walk....boombox!Parental A

You’re probably asking what is “pelvic distortion?” I will give you the short story about how this name came up.

Episode 106 is a set list that was made up by a long time friend, fellow roommate, and a fan of the show. He said that he would like to get his set on the show some week. I said to him on the night before Thanksgiving to give me his top 15 that he would play if it was his show. He put pen to napkin, mind to the Blackberry and came up with a set list faster than you can say “Flash Gordon.” After looking at the tracks that he chose, I immediately said, this would cause anyone “pelvic distortion.” After hearing this show you will know much more about Schmitty…no doubt about it!

With all the great things going on at Random Access Radio and the live show, it was great to do a recording and get back in the groove as I have done in the past. I hope you like what he chose, and if you do or don’t…leave him a comment on this post for Episode 106.

As you can see, this post is Rated for Explicit Lyrics and is also noted at the beginning of the show. You have been advised.

Don’t forget to follow the “all request podcast” on Twitter for requests to Sound Check, send them to @ck67 (and follow me) and for the live show for Random Access Radio, send them to @rarlive (and of course….please follow!)

Now, go on and enjoy Schmitty’s play list for Episode 106!

“Is this seat taken?” – Episode 105

November 11th, 2009 by CK

NY Diner

Photograph by lachance on Flickr

So I look at the calendar and realize that I have been knee deep in setting up Random Access Radio to do the live show, that we haven’t had a podcast come out in about a month. Their is a variable that took place after Episode 104, and that’s because I was sick. I didn’t have the flu, or the swine flu…just a bad cold that went as far as to take my voice away. So, with that happening, the live tests, a day job..and other random acts of violence…I am back with Episode 105.

I would like to thank @MariAdkins and @dizzygirl for their input into the show today at the last minute, and also @paulswansen , Dizzy, and Samantha (@koukla141) for their input during the live tests for Random Access Radio. We are getting there, just hit a few bumps in the road.

I was trolling around the web and I meant to mention it in today’s show, but isn’t it funny how people “hide” behind the Internet. I was looking at my stats on Sound Check and also RAR, and noticed that some people are spending a considerable amount of time checking RAR out and also visiting here  as well. I find it fascinating that people will tell others that you aren’t good for certain things and in the next breath, they are checking your work out. Also in another instance, I found that someone that wanted me to take part in a certain venture and whom I no longer speak with was listening to RAR…interesting how people operate…sometimes….no, most of the time …cowardly when you can hide behind the net. Show your faces and stop hiding…cause I can see you.

Anyway, enough of me ranting about people that wanted me for my voice..It’s that time…Episode 105 is on the hot plate and ready to be served.

Order up!

Enjoy…(It’s good…real good!)

“93 octane, and fill it please” – Episode 104

October 14th, 2009 by CK

On the river

So this week we went in a direction that I was thinking of 2 weeks ago….Driving. What songs do you turn up/jam to in the car when you are cruising? This question spurred the minds of all the music lovers of this show, and it showed.

I mention in this show, that this was one of my favorites. I can’t tell a lie. This was so fun to put together for all the people that requested and it shows that this show is the “all request” podcast. We may do songs from different era’s and different themes…but in the end you are driving this show. Thank you for your input and please, please, please comment here and share your thoughts with others.

Next week is 80′s/90′s requests, so get them in early and often. I would imagine that a bonus show will come out of next weeks show, so become a fan of the Facebook fan page, because that is where all bonus shows land! (You can join from the “Become a Fan” button in the right sidebar)

I want to thank all the people that are on Facebook that contributed this week, that aren’t on Twitter. (You should join and follow! @ck67)
Thank you to Michelle Zeletsky Allen and Johnny (husband and fan), Jackie Plante, Lisa Morse, and Jeremy from Chicago for their input this week with some great requests.

From Twitter (and please follow them and make some new friends!) @the_astronaut @SemperJase @MusicSavvyMom @koukla141 @paulswansen @dizzygirl @ck67 @cinderzilla @SecretAgentMama @Siskita and @Brettbum

I look forward to your comments on this great show that you all put together and you didn’t even know it.

We are breaking new ground in a few weeks with the live show, and don’t forget…if you have a friend that is interested in checking out the show and doesn’t want to download the whole show…snippets will be posted at www.utterli.com/randomaccessradio for all episodes. Let’s get everyone involved to force the bonus shows! We haven’t had them in a while.

Some Assembly Required… – Episode 103

October 7th, 2009 by CK

Guitar and Pics

Photograph by Allyzally on Flickr

Every now and again you come across someone that has an extensive musical background and loves all kinds of music. We have found her here at Sound Check.

About 5 years ago I became friends with a sweet blogger from GA. She was sassy, high spirited, and extremely talented. She was, and still is a great writer. Through the means of the Social Networking scene and Facebook/Twitter, we reconnected.  We began to talk of what we were up to and I was telling her about the show, the fan page and how things have changed around here from the old talk format to the new music format where the requests come in from Twitter and Facebook. She though it was a great idea and started to listen to the show.

She came clean and said that she was a huge music lover of all kinds of music from the stretches of grassroots Country to Folk to good ole’ Classic Rock. She was hooked on us and the show and her requests showed it. She also said it one time that she was a “request whore”…but you didn’t hear those words from my mouth. She has passion, and deep appreciation for music of all kinds, and in this episode…it shows. She is known as Dizzy or Dizzygirl or just plain ole’ Gennie to most, but to us, she is a friend first and a true fan of Sound Check.

Dizzy was tapped on the shoulder about a month ago to head up the “Check List” Series, where fans of the show submit a play list and we (I) play it here on the show. She didn’t disappoint one bit in Episode 103. You will be introduced to some songs that you have never heard before and also taken back with some classics. This ended up a great play list and I am glad to say that the inaugural episode of the “Check List” series is and was a success.

If you want to follow Dizzy on Twitter, here is where you find her–>@Dizzygirl

You can find a related post to this podcast/Episode at her blog www.Dizzy-girl.net where she explains and goes into more detail about how she came up with the set list and also the meanings behind why she chose certain tracks.

Once again, thank you to everyone that supports the show and also to all of our fans on the Facebook Fan Page. If you love the show, all I can ask is to tell a friend to listen in and get them hooked as well. As a side note, we are FREE on ITunes and the link is on the right sidebar and it will take you right to the subscription page where you can get all episodes of the show.

A special thank you to Dizzy for her hard work on this show and I am looking forward to her musical influence on future shows.

Best to all,

“No U-Turns” – Episode 102

September 30th, 2009 by CK

No U-Turn

As I mentioned late in this episode, I determined that I couldn’t turn back on the play-list for this week. It turned out to be a roller coaster of an episode with music spanning all era’s and genre’s. As you will see at the bottom of the post, their were a few “F” bombs that were in the show, so if you are easily offended by a rock artist using that language, then don’t listen. I have long been a supporter of freedom of speech in the arts and have always felt that censorship is wrong.

Parental Advisory

So, where was I? Oh yeah, if you like Classic Rock, some 80′s rap and also some music that you may have never heard before because it wasn’t played on the radio during its time, then this is the show to listen to. We have been playing more and more music that you don’t hear every day and that has been a main comment on why you like Sound Check.

Remember, if you want to request…Here I am on Twitter, Facebook, and the FB Fan Page. Fan up, support the show and tell a friend.

Please keep an eye on the schedule for the launch of the live show where your request and other assorted music will be played. Also, we’ll have past episodes playing on a schedule if you want to stream shows back to back. Finally, I mentioned that Sound Check is free on ITunes, so click on the Icon and subscribe to the show.

Thanks again for listening and be well,

CK

(P.S-I wanted to thank Wes Oxford and Dizzy for their comments on Episode 101 and the “Dingo and the Baby” audio.)

There’s always room for dessert – Episode 101

September 23rd, 2009 by CK

Dessert

I love dessert, period. When I was picking the set list for this show, I was thinking that a great cup of coffee and some  cheesecake would complete this show. I don’t know why, it just all seemed to fit together. If you love coffee, you will know what I mean when that jolt of caffeine hits your stomach and it’s followed by a great tasting slice. All in all…it sounds and I relate all those feelings to what is in Episode 101.

I have been trying to mix up the show and give you what you want. I have been asked as well as told that the new music that is on the show is great and has opened up some eyes to new musical tastes. I like hearing that from the people that listen to the show, so keep the comments coming.  Also, I was thinking “coffee house” style this week with a blend (here I go again with the coffee references) of other tracks that most know.

Also in this Episode, there are some announcements on what’s in the works, what direction the show is going and who will be making a guest appearance on the show in the very near future.

Don’t forget, the show schedule is in the right side bar, and we are also listed at Facebook where you can become a fan of the show. The link to get to the fan page is also in the right side bar.

As I mention during the show, I would like to thank Samantha for joining me for the kick ass Snow Patrol/U2 concert in Foxboro, MA. It was a great time had by all 78,ooo people…I think…

Look for a “Minisode” next week as we prepare for a live broadcast sometime in early Oct.

Enjoy Episode 101 and as always,

Milestones and Summers End – Episode 100

September 7th, 2009 by CK

Summers End

Photograph by Chris Kulturides Sunset at World’s End – Hingham MA

After a crazy Summer in New England where the weather haunted us from the monsoons of June to the melting heat and humidity of July to the just plain ole HOT weather of August…we see the end of summer. In the 1st week of September we have been graced with what looks like an early entrance to Fall like weather where it is in the 60′s now. Enough weather talk because this was a milestone show for Sound Check and also because we just passed the 2 year mark in early August. I NEVER thought that we would make it this far. Period.

I was introduced to this by a friend that said that he was podcasting and that I should give it a try. Well here we are 2+ years later and 100 Episodes deep, a format change and more changes on the way.

Some of the changes that are coming are that I am going to start the Check List Series where listeners of the show are able to have their own Episode with a mix of their favorite tracks. Also, in October, I will be doing 2 live shows a month and also featuring some of the previous shows on the stream. In addition to all the great stuff that is going on, I am bringing back Random Access Radio to the web and it will be part of Sound Check. If you have some programming that you would like to have included on the stream, please let me know at ck@check12check12.com So, stay tuned for all the upcoming events here and on the web that have to do with Sound Check.

I also mentioned in the show that the new schedule will be out this week and I am going to change that a little as well. Instead of doing 80′s, 90′s and Classic Rock shows, I was thinking that we could take request from Twitter and Facebook for acoustic sets, and maybe bootlegs, and covers from different artists. I think that would spice up the show a little. Let me know what you think…

I also thanked all the folks along the way for their support and also my supporters at Twitter. I wanted to say here that I appreciate all the input from Facebook as well and the support that the Sound Check with CK Page is getting at FB. Thank you.

CK on Twitter

Finally, I made mention during the show that an Indie group from France/England called Televox has supported Sound Check over the past year. The band has done great things for the show and I/we are looking forward to the release of the new EP from Televox. Show your support for the band by checking out Televox on the web at http://www.televoxmusic.com

Thank you again for your support of the show and I hope you enjoy the set list for Episode 100.

Youthful, yet Classic… – Episode 99

August 9th, 2009 by CK

Earbuds

Main Entry: 1 am·bi·tion
Pronunciation: \am-?bi-sh?n\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French or Latin; Middle French, from Latin ambition-, ambitio, literally, act of soliciting for votes, from ambire
Date: 14th century
1 a : an ardent desire for rank, fame, or power b : desire to achieve a particular end
2 : the object of ambition
3 : a desire for activity or exertion

What is “true ambition?”

Before I tell you, I will say that the set list for Episode 99, featuring my 11 year old nephew prodigy, was all him. The “V” man said that he was going to bring it and he did.  He change the set list like the wind was changing directions. All for the good. Some of the songs needed to be changed and it was an experience that I hope he never forgets.

Here is what I can say about ambition… Patients is a virtue, but the time that you spend with someone that shows ambition to learn and see exactly how you do something, and in the end realizes that you want to produce a good great show, was all he really wanted to do.  We worked on delivery, pitch, working the mic, and of course frustration/nerves.  All in all…he showed that the more effort you put in, the more fist bumps you will receive.  He did a great job, and I hope learned a lot about what his uncle does, each and every week.

He wanted me to thank Mari Adkins for the Breaking Benjamin request, and also Dee Wells for the RUN DMC  request as well.  He was very excited about the comments on the homepage when he was introduced as the main man who would do Episode 99.  V also wanted to thank everyone that has been involved in the show and commented on the great lists that have come into the show, each and every week. When I mentioned Breaking Benjamin, he said “So Cold?” and I said that would be great….and he said “but it was played it last week…” So, you know he was doing his homework.  As for the request for Dee, it was one “V” wanted to be fitting for someone that he knows and shares the same interest in music with, He also has enjoyed taking basketball and sports with Dee too. He wanted the RUN DMC hit to be truly “Classic” for his friend.

I am sure that this won’t be the last that we hear of “V.” He asked before leaving..”Am I doing Episode 100 with you?”

It ‘s all “V’s” show, and I’m proud to present Episode 99 ”

Broken in, but hardly broken… – Episode 98

August 5th, 2009 by CK

kicks

When “Open Season” was announced more than a month ago, I figured the play list would be extreme in the way that the songs were requested because this show was “open” to any and all music. I want to thank the people that make Sound Check what it is and for their efforts in spreading the word about a show that… “you never know what you are going to get.”

This week proved no different, and the set list was great. From the start to the triple, to the finish…It was great and it’s one that I know I will listen to a few times on the Ipod.

Special thanks go out to my friends and followers at Twitter in this weeks Episode-@MariAdkins @WesOxford @Dizzygirl and @Koukla141.

Also, I would like to thank Lisa Morse and Jeremy from Chicago for their input into this weeks show and shows of the past.

Don’t forget next week we are graced with the play list of my 11 year old nephew “V” who will grace us with his presence behind the mic as he takes over Sound Check for Ep. 99.

If you are interested in following me at Twitter or Facebook, click on the highlighted links. Also, the only place that you will find the Bonus Shows at this point in on the Facebook Fan Page, so become a fan and never miss a beat about the show (or the Bonus Episodes)!

Thanks again for all  your support and as I mentioned this week, Episode 95 (http://bit.ly/Episode95) and Episode 96 were shows that have broken all the records of the past as it pertains to downloads. Let’s keep it going, and the only way to do that is to tell a friend about the hottest growing show on the Internet.

After wrapping up the 2nd week of 90′s requests, I was kinda bummed out that we couldn’t keep going with another week…only because the requests were great and the amount was over 200+ in the last 2 weeks for this week and last. The 80′s shows were strong, but their are many fans of the 90′s, and it showed.

As you know if you have been following the show, next Wednesday August 5th is going to be “Open Season” here on the show, which means that you can request any songs from 1960 to the present and I’ll put them in a mix. I have a feeling that this show could gather some interest from some new friends at Twitter, and Facebook.

If you missed the “Bonus Show” for Episode 96, head on over to the Facebook Fan Page, add us as a fan, and stream the show right from the Fan Page. For all past shows, check them out here, right at the homepage.

I said it in the show, but over the past 2 shows, the excitement, and the traffic has grown remarkably, and I wanted to thank all those that support the show! Thank you!

If you are looking to follow me at Twitter and request songs for the show, here is the LINK, and at Facebook…befriend me—->>HERE!

We had some great Twitter requesters this week again and some new people getting in on the show, and that was great to see. Here are the people from Twitter that you should follow, because they are good people and aren’t the followers that will want you to look at their cams or naked pictures online! Here they are —>> Mari Adkins, Uncle Jed, Dizzy, Dee Wells, and 1st time requester, Lisa McGrath. Also, congrats to Lisa on her new internship…good luck!

One of the things that I have seen with this show is that there are many people that didn’t know each other on Twitter and Facebook and no talk online. What a better way to make new “virtual” friends but Sound Check.

If you want to request a video for the home page, send me a link to check out and I will decide on what to post this Sunday as I usually do. There is NO Bonus show this week.

Thanks again for supporting the show and please comment!

Thank you and be well,

“Breaking the Rules” – Episode 96

July 22nd, 2009 by CK

Breaking the Rules

Well, we jump out of the 80′s and the party continues for the 90′s this week on Sound Check. I mentioned in the show that our requesters mainly came from Facebook this week and the women truly out shined the men this week. Also, I titled the show “Breaking the Rules” because their is a song that I play in this Episode that is so great that it was just under the 90′s, but had to be there. We also hear from a long time listener that she too, broke the rules a little and her favorite was played as well.

This is the first week of 90′s hits/requests from Twitter and Facebook and I am glad to see that the fan page at Facebook is growing. I mention the fan page because of a few things. First, it is the best way to find out what is happening with the show in regards to posts on the home page (here) and secondly, where this weeks bonus show will be available ONLY. So, if you aren’t a member/fan of Sound Check with CK (http://bit.ly/SCpodcast), then get over there from the sidebar or the link and join the group!

This was a great show with help from many friends and even a few “new” requesters on the show. Please, if you like the show, tell someone to listen and if they have an Ipod and want to find us at Itunes, all they have to do is search for us under “Sound Check with CK” and subscribe to the show to never miss an episode.

I would like to thank the following people for responding with requests from the 90′s to make up Episode 96. Here are some of our loyal followers/contributors to the show that you should follow from Twitter – Samantha @koukla141, Dizzy @Dizzygirl, Mari Adkins @MariAdkins, and also Jed (that’s Uncle Jed to you!) from TX. @the_astronaut (lol)

Special thanks to Beth Salvador, and Michelle Zeletsky from Facebook for their contributions this week! (Thank you, you guys ROCKED! :)   )

Before I sign off on this weeks show, I am looking for a few things to help the show. I am in the process of getting T-shirts for the show and would love to talk to a logo designer that would design the logo for the shirts in exchange for multiple plugs on each show. Also, because we are growing and the show is free, hosting for the audio is getting expensive, so if you are interested in sponsoring the show in exchange for plugs of your product or website during the show, email me at ck@check12check12.com to talk about the details.

That’s it from here, enjoy the show and sign up for the fan page to get the bonus show this week!

Be well,

CK

Video Request! Brian Setzer – Jump Jive N’ Wail/Live!

July 20th, 2009 by CK

I decided today that because their will be a delay on getting the show out on Monday this week due to “life”, that we would keep the show going with a video request from our listeners. Today’s Video request comes in from Paul Swansen from Denver, CO. Want to follow Paul on Twitter, here is the LINK

Thanks for the video request today and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter as well to get in your request for future show at CK’s Twitter account! Don’t forget to look at the calendar list to see what shows are coming up and what you may want to request! Also, if you aren’t signed up as a “fan” at the Facebook fan page (http://bit.ly/SCpodcast)(Link also in the sidebar!), you should because last Thursday I came out with a mix that was only available there and on Twitter. Don’t always think that it will be on Twitter, because I’ll be using the fan page more and more in the coming months.

Thanks for checking in please check out our sponsors, Host Monster, 123Posters.com,  and our Google ads!

Episode 96 will be out on Wednesday afternoon/night.

Be well,

**IMPORTANT** Because this file is hosted somewhere different this week, please DON’T click on the “play in new window” because it won’t work. Please press “Download” and a Quicktime or the player that you use on your computer will get the show. If you are having an issue getting the show, here is the direct link. Episode 95

*I want to be up front and let you know that this show was almost a goner…It’s been a frustrating 3 days since Monday trying to render the show from project to.wav to mp3 and it finally came together today. I will admit that I have played with the emotions of my recording gear because this show IS just short of 4 hours long. You ask  for it, and you shall receive.

I also wanted to bring up that I was with some friends today that were talking about the evolution of what we listened to music on from cassettes to mini-disks to cd’s, and also from yellow Walkman’s to retro boom boxes. What did you use to consume your music of your era?

If you want in on next weeks show, we are doing music from the 90′s. Send your requests to me at Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/ck67) and also at Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/chrisk67) and don’t forget to join the Facebook fan page at http://bit.ly/SCpodcast …. Rock on and please comment!!!

Vintage Boom Box

In the process of putting together the 2nd week 80′s requests and hits together for the show, and it got me thinking. Last week, I mentioned Aquanet and Spotbilts, but this week the 80′s took it to another level of reflection. I thought of the years pre-graduation from high school and some of the fashions that made it 80′s besides the above mentioned, but some of the others. Before having the option of driving, I walked, or rode my BMX bike everywhere, sometimes for miles to see girls and friends in other towns, but mostly the chicks… I was brave on many a nice day to take my boom box with me as well. All I can remember is that it was yellow, it was loud and it had a EQ on it, that was the shit back in the day. I loved that thing…I can’t tell you that I remember that more than anything, and that is why music is a huge part of me.

Nike Cortez

For many of you that know me, I am an avid photographer that enjoys taking pictures. The picture at the top of this post comes from a photographer at Flickr who defined all that I was when I was in high school…girls, that boom box, and a great pair of Mary Jane’s You can see more of Jocie’s pictures HERE .  The other picture defined some of the fashio sense in high school in the 80′s and that included a lot of walking. That is where many a pair of Nike Cortez’s came into play. All in all, it was walking, riding, and listening until of course the bright state of MA gave me a license to drive, and I didn’t have to ride the bike as much, and or carry the boom box.  Life was good.

In retrospect, don’t forget about your past, it shaped you in many ways that you don’t even realize. Sometimes if you look deep enough, and I think you will after hearing close to 4 hours of Classic 80′s requests from our friends at Twitter and Facebook-you will start to remember more that you maybe want. It isn’t a bad thing if the music is attached to something special.

This is special and it is all for you, the fan and guests of Sound Check with CK.

Thanks and enjoy the show and I look forward to seeing what you want on Episode 96, next week.

Be well,

CK

The 80′s…Our Way – Episode 94

July 6th, 2009 by CK

I love the 80's...

When I was thinking of changing the theme on the show to different era’s of music, I really didn’t know what to expect when it came to the 80′s. I was expecting lots of Madonna, Poison, Motley Crew, and even some Guns and Roses. The requests this week were much more personal to the people that make up Episode 94. This was a show that even contributors of the show didn’t even grow up in the 80′s and liked the music of that time and got in on the show. Their are many hits in the show, some music that may surprise you, and some that straight out rocks.

I was a child of the late 70′s and mostly 80′s so it was great to get the first of 2 weeks of 80′s requests under my belt. I mentioned it briefly in the show, but as a fan or Thriller, Beat it, and other hits of Michael Jackson, all I can say is R.I.P and thank you for some great hits that marked an era in music and the lives of so many.

I would like to thank the following people that requested music and made up the “All Request Podcast- Sound Check with CK.” From Twitter, (click on names for the link, @thepete @koukla141 @dizzygirl @siskita @EricEmerick and @MariAdkins. Also, I would like to thank Noelle, Jim for requesting via Facebook and JG for the last song of the show inspiration. If you didn’t make it this week, look for your requests in the play list on Episode 95. A special thanks goes out to Dizzy in GA. for breaking in the studio line this week with requests and as she calls in “mixing it up!” Thank you. Anyone that wants to leave a request on the studio line can, just call the 339 # at the bottom of this post.

If you are looking to reach out to me at Twitter, you can at http://www.twitter.com/CK67 and at Facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/chrisk67

I am looking forward to getting to the songs that didn’t make the show and I am definitely looking forward to a great request from @Spiffy via Twitter. Also, I am sure that we’ll get some great songs from @Alli next week too.

OK. now go get your Trans Am, your cuffed jeans amd Spotbilt’s and for the ladies, your neon leggings, leg warmers, and your Aquanet, and let’s get on with Episode 94!

Be well,

Classic Memories… Episode 93

June 30th, 2009 by CK

I wanted to let you all know who don’t follow me on Twitter that last night right before I was to “publish” this show, the transformer blew I mean literally exploded and I lost power. So, better late than never..enjoy the show and again…sorry for the delay.

Sunset

As we wrap up the last week of Classic Rock month here at Sound Check, we couldn’t have gone out with a stronger show. This show rivals Episode 92 in many ways. It is filled with surprises and great Classic cuts. I say that enjoy doing these recordings, and some are admittedly better than others…but this one was great to listen to while under the headphones. The tracks are Classic, the guitars are screaming, and the instrumentals were catchy.

I acknowledge in the show that I appreciate the feedback, and anyone that puts effort into entertaining people loves feedback. I want to thank everyone for the kind words from the last 4 weeks worth of shows and especially, @MariAdkins and @Spiffy who said that they were truly looking forward to this weeks show. I was too…and it is here.

I have mentioned that we are headed to 80′s music for 2 weeks, so get me your requests for Episode 94 on 7/6/09. The calendar of release dates and what is coming up is on the sidebar.

2 Hour Parking – Episode 92

June 22nd, 2009 by CK

Vintage Car

Episode 92 was by far the most exciting show to put together since I changed format and went to a Twitter/Facebook/email request format to make up the show. This week all that effort seemed to shine through and with a record number of people requesting songs to make up the show, I am sure that you will be pleased if you are even the slightest fan of Classic Rock. Many thanks go out to the response to the Thursday status message on Facebook and also to some followers at Twitter too.

When I look at what people like, I always think that maybe someone that is listening to the show will like a new/old Classic. I have found that to be the case this week. If you have that happen to you, let me know and what you liked about the artist/song that you heard. The requests came in and were in multiples from many people and I appreciate that. This mix is one that as soon as I saw it, I knew that it would be a hit. Thank you again to all that contributed to Episode 92.

For the people on Twitter that assisted in the mix this week, I thank you. Also I would like to tell my readers that if you are looking for quality people to follow, check out these folks on Twitter: @thepete, @MariAdkins, @spiffy and @Dizzygirl

To make a request to my Twitter page I am @ck67 and here is my Facebook link. If I don’t know who you are, please send me a message with “Sound Check” in it so I know you are a fan of the show.

If you want to inquire about advertising on the show, or would like to request a song for the next mix you can email me at my Sound Check Email.

Enjoy this one, because I know I did when I produced it!

A Classic Road Trip – Episode 91

June 15th, 2009 by CK

Where do I start?

roads

I was looking at the feedback from the past few shows since the format of Sound Check had changed and I am pleased to bring a “different” type of podcast to you the listener. This show is based around my love for Classic Rock and sharing in the songs that you request for the play list. We have featured the “double troubles” in the show and the “triple threats” and have seen artists like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and The Who, just to name a few.

This week, I would say that this play list will take you from the upper 70′s to the 60′s and round trip a few times. If you like Classic Rock in any way, their is something in here for you. The one thing that I like about this show being developed by the followers at Twitter and Facebook is that we are introduced sometimes to music that we have never heard. What can be better that a play list that has great music in it, out for your consumption and a way to hear new cuts? It can’t be better than that.  All I ask is for you to listen to the show, tell a friend that may like this music and then make sure you add us to your Itunes so that Sound Check with CK lands in your podcast category each and every week. (just select “get all episodes”)

Remember, June is Classic Rock month and I am taking your requests via my Twitter account, Facebook  and also if you want to add them in the comments to any post will work too. If you have a request and a story that you want to share you can email me at ck@check12check12.com or just call the studio line and leave a message at 339-200-8050.

I want to thank the following people for making Episode 91 happen. For out Twitter followers (and I would follow them all) -@thepete, @dizzygirl, @siskita, @allicette. On Facebook, I would like to thank Mary Helen for a great Springsteen track this week, as well as Sarah B. for her C/S/N/Y requests as well.

If you are looking for the “Jay The Pal” official site, CLICK HERE! Rock on Jay!

Once again, if you want to get a song on the play list for the show via Twitter, send me an (@) message to @CK67 on Twitter, and on Facebook, you can find me HERE.

This was a great episode that is loaded with a lot of music. Please comment on the show and leave feedback.

Cheers,

CK
