“Caution: Side effects may include…” Episode 90

June 8th, 2009 by CK

sex-and-rock

When putting together this weeks requests, all I could think of was Hendrix/Woodstock, love, peace, sex and being free. A lot of what is in this mix defines those days.

I have to say, this week I am impressed yet again with the outpouring of support for the new format. Also the feedback has been great and it’s much appreciated.

This is the “Show that is controlled by you.” All you have to do to be part is have the ability to hit me up on Twitter, Facebook, the Facebook Group “Sound Check with CK“, or on the studio line at 339-200-8050 and leave your Classic Rock request and maybe even why they are special to you.

The contributors to this weeks show are the following people on Twitter: Dizzygirl, WesOxford, EricEmerick, JaythePal, Allicette, and from Facebook-Philip Trask, JG and Lisa Morse. The songs that make up this show are amazing, and created a mix that one may want to listen to over and over again. Don’t forget, we are FREE on Itunes and also available to download right from this post.

For more on my puppet friend…Jay the Pal….and evidently a huge Queen fan, CLICK HERE.

If I could ask one thing of all the people that listen to this podcast…just one small thing…it would be to tell someone about Sound Check…and turn them on and get them involved. I look forward to your comments on Episode 90 “Caution: Side effect may include…”

Life in the fast Lane Episode 89

June 2nd, 2009 by CK

GTO

When I was putting this mix together, I was thinking of the years in the past. Times when I was growing up, listening to music and what I would have loved to be driving in.

These are some of the songs what come to mind when I wish I had a classic car  to cruise in. I was lucky to have many friends with classic cars and I have so many memories of listening to the songs of the 60′s and 70′s over the roar of loud exhausts. Their is no going back now, so enjoy the mix and the ones that will be here in the weeks to come.

Remember you can send your request for future mixes to me at Twitter (LINK—> @CK67, or by emailing me at ck@check12check12.com

I have opened up the Studio Line at (339) 200-8050 for you to leave a voice mail for your favorite Classic Rock song and why…maybe we’ll play it out on the show? You never know!

I also would like to thank Lisa M. and JG at Facebook for their requests this week and also the following people at Twitter. I would recommend following all these great people. Again, thank you for the request and keep the songs coming and tell your friends to follow me @CK67 on Twitter.

Back from the Dead – Episode 88

May 26th, 2009 by CK

body-1744

For some reason…I knew this would happen. I have been dealing with the few projects that are going on at this point and time and this, well…just happened.

I look at this as ” Back from the Dead” type of situation. I love music, I love being behind the mic and I love getting my opinion out. I took it upon myself to ask the users at Twitter what their favorite rock songs are, and then the Tweets started to come in. I was overwhelmed and I thank you for letting me know what songs you love, because of your response, this will keep happening.

For the month of June (anyway) I am going to concentrate on Rock music. All you have to do is send me an (@CK67) message on Twitter and I will develop the song mix/list and turn it into your newest and favorite podcast. I am back from the dead, and so is Sound Check.

Thank you to all that inspired me with your picks for different songs and don’t forget you can follow the (SC) Sound Check Group at Facebook and also at Twitter (@check12check12) to get in your songs. If you want the format to go in another direction, let me know your thoughts. Also, If you have stories that you want read with your song requests as to how the music changed your life or was important to you, let me know. Email me at ck@check12check12.com

Thanks again and I look forward to all the new followers of the show and the input that you have on it.

Cheers,

CK

If you enjoy being surprised in what direction this show takes, you should have been on the live recording of the show Thursday night. It wasn’t filled with talk of the economy, the President, gas prices, or even odd news.

It was purely based on media. Now you consume it, where and with what equipment.

This show shares stories from our guests that will tell you how they view media, technology, Twitter and social networking. We were back to the core group from way back when this show started to pick up steam with Chaz, Eric, Patrick and Paul Swansen. It was a great show with a lot of information that was based upon Media and Twitter. I would think that the folks at Twitter might want to listen to this one!

Once again, I am grateful for the contributions of my guests and if you want to be on the show, all you have to do is follow the instructions at the top of the page. I am honored to present Episode 85.

I harp on the fact that Thursday to Thursday flys by each week and we continue to pump out better shows after better shows. I have to give it up to all my guests that were at the virtual round table on Thursday night, because this one has so much laughter in it, that the show didn’t feel like it was ever going to stay on course. At one point, I said…”If this podcast were to get pulled over right now, it would get a DUI!” We had so much fun on the show and were actually simulcasted out on Weasel Radio this week. We will be looking for more syndication outlets in the coming weeks. If you want content and have listeners…we want to know.

If you want to follow the show and be eligible to win the “Tweet of the Week”, follow Sound Check On Twitter by clicking the link. Weekly Prizes will be announced, but you have to follow the show and Twitter us to WIN!

I do want to let you know that the pre show was off the wall hysterical and if you really want the flavor of what happens behind the scenes, you really have to spend a night with us on Skype. Check the directions above, email with all the info that we need (so we can get to know you) and join this train called Sound Check. I am honored to present Episode 84.

Enjoy,

CK

Episode 83 – Sound Check “Like OMG…I’m Twittering!”

March 19th, 2009 by CK

Announcement: Thursday March 26th’s Episode 84 of Sound Check will be recorded on Skype in a conference call format. If you want to be a part of this, please email info@check12check12.com and leave your name, website address, and Skype name so you can be added to the Roster for the show. Wow…I keep thinking of what is happening on this show and I want to call this Episode “The Usual Suspects” because we were joined by an old time listener and a guest on the show, so the cast of characters was “back to the way it was” about 20-30 episodes ago. It was a good show that was marked by AIG, the economy, President Obama on Leno, and a lot of other topics to boot.

I impress upon you to sign up for the email notifications for the show so you know when they are posted. I am trying to get them to you as quickly as possible, but as you can tell by listening to the show, a lot goes into the show, edit, mix, and production. As I say in the description, “not your average podcast, just way better than radio” and that is what I want to deliver. Enjoy Episode 83, and a special thank you to Allicette (www.blue7.com) for being on the show. :o )

I am amazed at so many things when it comes to this show, day in and day out. I have been looking at the stats and the locations that we are hitting and I want to thank EVERYONE from around the globe for listening in to the show. We are seeing a huge amount of people from France and England due to our awesome relationship with the band Televox. If you haven’t listened to Episode 81, check out the opening track “Lion in a Cage”, which rocked the socks off the listeners this week.

We were greeted this week by some great friends from NY that gave us their voices this week and also did what this show promotes, free speech. We heard from ThePete and his other half, Sierra and it was a great first show with them involved. As they can tell you from being on the show LIVE, it is an experience that has to be heard. The final cut and what happens in the virtual studio is hysterical, comedic, and down right funny. (call it what you will). Big thanks to them for being there, as well as Chaz, Brett, and Paul Swansen. If you want to join the show to listen to the live recording, you can. If you want to take part in the show, use the email address above, or hit me up on Twitter and let’s talk. It’s kinda funny that I have made it 4/5′s of the way to the 100 Episode mark. I am glad that through all the ups and downs that a podcast can take, we are still spitting out great content and awesome audio. The following episode has 11 segments to it. Episode 79 Sound Check “Your Spacecraft is ready for departure!”"

February 12th, 2009 by CK

Announcement: Thursday February 19th’s Episode 79 of Sound Check will be recorded on Skype in a conference call format. If you want to be a part of this, please email info@check12check12.com and leave your name, website address, and Skype name so you can be added to the Roster for the show. This is a FREE call for all those that have Skype! Come and join the Sound Check on the 19th!!!

Every time I look back at where this show was and where it is going amazes me. I remember when I was using a phone to call in to Talkshoe to record this show with a rigged headset plugged into the cordless phone. The audio quality wasn’t great, but then again the first 10 or so shows weren’t great either. It is all trial and error here, but one thing that I have brought to the table if high quality audio and a product that has now hit Episode 79.

At this point in the show, I have a full studio with all the bells and whistles that produce all that you have heard over the past 30+ shows. As of this show, we changed it up and went and recorded this show in a format that was totally new. We did this podcast on a Skype conference call. You will hear that people sound great, two people can talk at once and it sounded at some points as if the guests were across the console and in the same room. It was great to see that the advances that we are taking in this show are paying off.

As I usually do, I want to thank Chaz, Eric, Brett, Patrick and Paul (who maned the chat for us during the show and listened live) for being with us for the first of many future episodes on Skype. Thank you.

This episode is some what special. We recorded over 2 hours of audio and I went through and pulled the main segments that made up the show. Their are 7 parts to the show, and as you listen…You will see that they are all made up to produce 43 minutes of great audio. Enjoy the show.

Here are the show notes for February 12th, 2009

  • Part 1 Opening by The Break Mission
  • Part 2 Opening Rant
  • Part 3 Michael Phelps and the $100,000 dollar bong
  • Part 4 Our Apple talk of the week and some ITouch talk about JaJah (Voip) app
  • Part 5 Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman and our thoughts (video below)
  • Part 6 Follow up on the Grammy’s and some discussion
  • Part 7 Wrap up…Red Sector A (For all the fans of your our favorite Canadian Rock Band!)

If you haven’t heard the show, this one is just shy of 45 minutes and I ask just one thing of the listeners…Please listen to the whole show and leave a comment and let us know what you thought of the length, content, and the guests on the show. Again, we continue to be grateful for the support that the show is getting from around the globe from the most northern parts of Russia, to just off the coast of South America. Thank you for listening.

Be well,

CK

Make sure you read the announcement above the player for information on Thursday Feb 12th’s show. We will be doing it on Skype and NOT on Talkshoe.com.

This was a show that was nothing further from running to the store, only to find out that you forgot your money and on the way home you had to take an alternate route because a tree fell across the road. Put it this way, I was all over the road…(this show should be titled with something to do with a (PUI) Podcasting Under the Influence! The only influence here was the topics. Enjoy the show!

Episode 77 Sound Check “How many Apples are in my Palm?”

January 29th, 2009 by CK

…and the hits just keep on coming!

This was another great show, and I want to thank Eric from FL. and Brett from N.C for their POV on the Apple vs. Palm Pre Patent section of the show. It was excellent.

Their are so many parts to this show that will give you the feel that we do hit all basis each week. If you are looking for Economic Talk, we have it. If you want the views of our guests on current events like what is going on at US AIRWAYS, here is the place that you will hear it. Also, as I mentioned, the Apple and Palm Pre patent talk provided some very good points-of-view and opinions. As we do on a weekly basis, we touched on new movies that are coming to the big screen and also to DVD this week. From the music desk, we bring you some music news and also some upcoming Grammy’s info.

It wouldn’t be a full week here if porn or strippers weren’t involved, so you have to tune in for Odd News-It is a nose breaker.

Episode 76 Sound Check “Obama-The New Era of Hope”

January 22nd, 2009 by CK

With words that are as chilling as the Northeastern air, we now have hope. Hope in new beginnings, hope in changes to come, and hope that my social security will be there (maybe) when I retire.

Coming off a big show with Episode 75, once again I have to reach out and thank the guys at Televox for the video that was posted here, and also some pictures that I received from a recent music video shoot that they are in the midst of. ( www.televoxmusic.com )

I have learned many things this week. I have realized that my sense of being has been restored and my sense of caring was elevated only to be deflated once again right after this show was recorded live. I love the fact that everyone is a writer and a novelist and a “info gatherer” and I was threatened to see that my opinion isn’t valid. I was also called many things and that never gets me down. I was told that I was part of a poll that included 427 people that commented, but wasn’t privy to the link on a topic that I was the subject of.  I have always defended my thoughts and I have never been a coward to tell someone how I feel about them. It’s just funny that people can be so vindictive (aggressive or assertive-you choose the word) without ever seeing the other person, face to face.

With that said, Episode 76 leads off with a great song by Snow Patrol, that was spiced up a bit.

Here are the show notes for Episode 76, enjoy the show.

~“In the Mood” courtesy of Televox ( www.televoxmusic.com )~

When you look down this lists of what happens on this show, (even I am amazed) that we fit this in on the show in just over 2 hours. This was a great show that reminded me of a roller-coaster that has many ups and downs and loops and all that great stuff. It was a deep show, opinionated, and funny all at the same time! Listen to this one, leave a comment, click a link and copy the show link in those comments and let’s show the Internet that we are the place for opinions on the net. Thank you to all my guests and to Televox for “In the Mood”, and also to the people that listen to the show week after week. To the fans I say “Check 12″

Episode 73 Sound Check “From Strip Clubs to Fight Clubs and back…”

December 18th, 2008 by CK

This was the last show of the year, and for all that it was worth…2008  was a great year. We heard some conversation about politics and heard awesome election coverage from our guests. From debates about Obama and McCain to the randomness of Joe the Plumber. We touched topics from music to movies, to random Florida news to how a woman could be married 5 times and all her husbands die and no one has a clue that something it up. It was a great, but wacky year. I had a blast and many thanks to all the staple guests that are on the show…you know who you are. I wish that we could get the one that got away back sometime soon.

Episode 72 Sound Check “and the Grammy goes to…”

December 11th, 2008 by CK

It only took 70 Episodes for us to talk about a topic that we haven’t discussed since Episode #2, and that is music.

I was talking in Episode 71 about the Grammy nominations were out and I was not clear (and still am not) on how Coldplay and Metallica could be in the same category called “Rock.” I also mentioned that we would talk more about music in this episode. So we did.

In this episode we did play all of the music from the artists that are nominated in the “Best Rock Album” and the “Best Rock Song” categories.

Here are the groups that you will hear in this episode:

    The Raconteurs
    [Third Man/Warner Bros.]

In between the 1st and 2nd category we did discuss what artists have NOT won a Grammy.

Overall this was a great show and a chance to discuss something that everyone likes, music.  In future episodes, Sound Check will be doing more show that include new artists, up and coming artists, and also what artists have shaped our lives and what certain music means to you.

This was a fun show to do seeing where their is some music that many people like.

I would encourage you to burn a copy to CD and listen to us on the way in or home from work.

Also, if you want to get all the shows that we have put out, and their are some great shows-click on the Itunes button and subscribe. Episode 70 Sound Check “Black Friday, you are a go for liftoff…”

      November 30th, 2008 by CK

This was a show that featured the crew from the world famous Obsessive Sneaker Disorder Talkshow and all their wit which landed on the console of Sound Check. We got into it right away on the eve of this Black Friday where we heard of the deals and steals as well as the people that made it to work and never made it home. It was a day that will be added to the record books for tragedies that have happened on yet another Black Friday and also the release of the DJ Clark Kent designed Nike Air Force 1.

This was a show unlike all the others, because it had more laughs than expected! Enjoy the show and here is all goodness that took place.

Episode 68 Sound Check “The Grand Pooh-Bah meets the Periodic Table”

      November 13th, 2008 by CK

I hope that everyone has been enjoying the shows over the last month, because I know that by the email and the chatter that we are producing a great show. Once again a quick thank you to the guest host for filling in and also to Eric for being there while I was out of town in the Windy City.

It was a trip that was cut short and I ended up heading to the airport early (hoping that I wasn’t going to feel Tom Hanks in Terminal) and bear the brunt of an increase in plane fare and a wait. Well, I am glad to say that I made it back to MA in one piece and had a great conversation with the gent that was sitting next to me in the last row of the plane back from Chicago.

I realized that I miss being here, setting up the show and delivering every Thursday night barring any emergencies. I am back. We will be LIVE every Thursday night at 9:35 p.m EST at Talkshoe.

Episode 68 was fun filled and it went in another direction tonight. I hope that you enjoy the show and thank you in advance to all that attended the live show/recording. I also want to thank all the new guests that were in and took part in the show as well. We hope to see you next week and in the weeks ahead.

Here are the show notes for Episode 68:

Once again, thank you to all that make Sound Check the place to be on Thursday nights from 9:35 till about 12 midnight. Much appreciated and I hope to see you on the show soon. Talk soon!
