I won a CD during a radio station contest at a bar watching MNF. Never heard of the band before. Put it in the car player on the way home and rocked out, good stuff. The band is Eve’s Plum, song called Serious Stuff. btw, they broke up after this album, their last of only 2 albums. Also, the band is named after the actress who played Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch (Eve Plumb)! Their song “Eye” is featured in the 1995 John Singleton film “Higher Learning”.

Paul’s theme: Guys who were in Genesis but left or two-timed… Peter Gabriel was the original lead singer… After leaving, the drummer aka Phil Collins became lead singer (Phil eventually left as well)… Mike Rutherford, of Mike & the Mechanics, was the band’s bassist/guitarist- Mike & The Mechanics was a side project that produced albums in between Genesis albums…

Which brings us to my 1st official 90s request: “I Can’t Dance” – gators getting close, hasnt got me yet…

No offense to those that cant stand David Lee Roth, and he certainly is over the top, but the old Van Halen has a much more distinct edge, and is not so commercial. Sure they sold a lot of records with Van Haggar, but the music of Van Halen with Roth captures a spirit of rock that was so instrumental (no pun intended) in carrying the big rock band menatality of the 80′s. Van Haggar…90′s tech rock….Van Halen, definitely Rock, and probably in the top 5 to 10 of rock bands of the era. Van Haggar is a pop band at best….

Wow – hard to make a choice on that Van Halen question. I’ve seen ‘em both. The original lineup rocked harder, but I did truly enjoy Sammy – the sound was cleaner and rocked pretty good.

Saw Sammy in Mexico at the Cabo Wabo w/his band and surely enjoyed him with his own band and music than him signing David Lee Roth hits. Keep the great music coming – sounds great!

Van Halen…wow this is a tough question because both guys totally rocked it out. You know, I’m going to have to go with Hagar. David Lee Roth was so obnoxious.I know, I know…I’ll probably get drug over the coals for it, but I just think the music was better with Sammy.

That said, this is definitely one of my favorite episodes of the show. Can’t wait until next week. And thanks for playing my two songs.

I saw a show a few years ago that touched on the debate of which band is better. The gentleman on the show said that the jocks loved the Who while the hippies and potheads loved Zepplin. I hardly think this is scientific and I don’t see myself as either a jock or a hippie or pothead, but I will say this…

Led Zepplin is BY FAR the superior band. I’m not saying that the Who are a bad band, because they aren’t, but come on…it’s Zepplin. They’re in a league of their own. No contest.

Hey just a couple quick comments–I’m thinking that until there’s a rash of psychotic chimps killing people I don’t think we need to worry about it too much. That woman was a fool for having a chimp as a pet. End of story in my humble opinion.

Re: the Muslim dude who beheaded his wife in upstate NY–this isn’t a cultural thing. I dated a Muslim woman once who was 1st gen American and her parents were perfectly sane people who never admitted an inclination toward decapitations to me in the 9 months I dated their daughter.

The guy who beheaded his wife was CRAZY.

Sure, beheadings are more *acceptable* in Arab countries but only in extreme situations. Anyone who thinks a wife wanting to leave her man is an extreme situation has never been married.

Eric makes a great point with regards to Nancy Pelosi not supporting impeachment for Bush if he’s so bad. Personally, I don’t think she has any room to talk. Where is the saving Dems that America elected in 2006? Where is her simple plan to bring down oil? Why is her and the rest of Congress’ approval ratings even below Bush’s? Sounds like she was talking about herself just as much as she was about Bush.
